Jetpharma Sdn Bhd is the leading pharmaceuticals company with sale of its products throughout Malaysia, resulting into numerous purchase, sales and inventory transactions each day. In 2005, the customer was planning to replace their core supply chain application which was not scaling up to their changing business needs. In process the customer has identified an ERP package which in their view would meet the requirements functionally. SoftSolvers was engaged as consultant to study and validate their approach and the choice of the package.

SoftSolvers Solution
SoftSolvers proposed a customized open source Compiere ERP solution with robust architecture that is scalable for customers future business needs. The unique aspect of the approach is to identify the high impact, low risk areas’ and reengineer them towards the ‘To Be ‘architecture, so that the customer can reap benefits fairly quickly.

Technology Platform
SoftSolvers used Struts Framework, a flexible and generic architecture, which is an extension of MVC architecture with J2EE standards. Rational tool suite was used for Requirements management, design, testing and defect management. In addition SoftSolvers used a Build tool (WSAD integrated build tool & Apache Ant) and VSS and CVS for configuration management.

Business Needs
Scicom (MSC) Berhad (hereafter referred as “Scicom”) is a leading provider of IT services. Scicom’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) model helps global companies build brands, reduce costs, and improve existing operations, by relocating their customer contact centers and back office services to Asia. Scicom client MeePhone wishes to have the Scheduling & Booking System (here as “SBS Project”) with intent to provide highest quality of service to its members and also to its partners such as recruiters. The planned SBS is the single point of contact for members and business partners operating 24x7 for information and services relating to tutorial affairs.

SoftSolvers was engaged as consultant to study the system requirements and validate their approach and the choice of the solution. The scope of this engagement constitutes the design & development of the Scheduling & Booking System Project as per the requirements document provided by MeePhone.

SoftSolvers Solution
SoftSolvers proposed a custom development for the SBS application in a proven industry standard n-Tier based on the .Net platform. The approach provides clean separation of application functionality that simplifies application maintenance. It also makes it very easy to scale the application to handle larger loads at a future date by just adding more processors/machines to each tier.

SoftSolvers used Windows Server 2003, IIS 6.0, .Net Framework 3.0. Rational tool suite was used for Requirements management, design, testing and defect management. In addition SoftSolvers used Build tools Visual Studio 2005 and ER Studio for data model. Platform/Language used was ASP.Net, VB.Net, Web Services and backend database is MS SQL Server 2005.

SBS Project was developed using MS Enterprise Library 3.0 as infrastructure framework for better, performance, scalability and security of the application, following best practices by Microsoft.

Solution Overview
Scheduling & Booking System (SBS) is a comprehensive tool for allowing Contact Center Managers and/or the Tutors to be roster and view the schedules for a fixed period of time.

The Scheduling & Booking system eventually became part of overall MeePhone Business System and consists of sub-systems including, Users profile, basic information system, Interactive Voice Response (IVR), Scheduling & Booking System, Knowledge Management System, Billing and Student Registration System and Lesson Management System.

The SBS architecture was designed based upon proven industry standard n-Tier based on the .Net platform, for rapid development.

This approach provided clean separation of application functionality that simplifies application maintenance.

It also made it very easy to scale the application to handle larger loads at a future date by just adding more processors/machines to each tier.

To add on to their consulting services iC3i wished to develop a product (OptiPro-M) that they can offer to their clients for tracking Performance Management across all levels of the call center or the contact center with reporting facilities for there growing needs.
